Bolton NHS Foundation Trust has thanked the charity Boot Out Breast Cancer including all its supporters for their generous donations and support, in particular those that organised and attended a charity ball last September in memory of Bernie Mercer.

The trust has purchased a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine costing £85,000, which will increase its ability to scan patients and perform ultrasound-guided biopsies in a one stop clinic by 50 per cent.

“Boot Out Breast Cancer’s ongoing support and generosity to the breast imaging departments of our region and the Royal Bolton Hospital in particular has been tremendous,” a trust spokesperson said. “This has been over a number of years and has undoubtedly helped to improve the quality of care we can provide to our patients and also to enrich the working environment of our staff.”
