Children’s hospitals tackle positioning challenges

At Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children are radiology services manager Jenny McKinstry, radiographers Marjorie McClelland and Geraldine McKeever, Philips Healthcare executive assistant Tonette Ward and account manager Morgan Evers.

Two leading children’s hospitals in Ireland, Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, are experiencing easy C-arm positioning following installations of Philips Veradius mobile systems.

At the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, radiology services manager Jenny McKinstry said: “We are very happy with our new image intensifier, it is a big improvement on our previous system.  We particularly appreciate its low dose, which is so important when imaging children.

“The Philips Veradius is used for general and orthopaedic surgery, which can present difficult positioning challenges.  The ease of positioning of the Veradius addresses these demands and provides more room to work around the patient.”
