Cobalt Health improves diagnosis and treatment through cutting-edge technology, training and research

Cobalt’s vision is to pioneer innovation in medical imaging diagnosis by investing in equipment, integrated research and education, to improve outcomes for patients now and in the future.

Cobalt Health is a medical charity, established in 1964. Each year it provides diagnostic imaging for over 115,000 patients through imaging centres in Cheltenham and Birmingham and through a fleet of mobile MRI, CT and PETCT scanners, supporting NHS hospitals and other medical facilities across the UK.

The charity focus on offering equipment and services not generally available within the NHS to support many patients. Cobalt imaging centres house the latest technology designed to deliver patient comfort and enable shorter scanning times.

Using ultra-low dose mobile CT, it is the leading provider of lung cancer screening services in the UK, working in partnership with the NHS in many community locations across England.

The charity enables improvements in clinical diagnosis and treatments mainly related to cancer and dementia. This is achieved by investing in cutting-edge technology, supporting and participating in local, national and international research working with leading experts in the field. Cobalt also works closely with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham to deliver specialist research imaging for the Institute of Translational Medicine. In addition, by delivering a diverse training and education programme for medical professionals the charity enhances their professional development.

Cobalt is always interested to hear from talented professionals who would like to further their career with a groundbreaking charity.
