Compact 3D imaging systems help broaden access to advanced imaging in veterinary practice across the UK
Access to advanced imaging for veterinary teams can present a challenge, with the cost, space and infrastructure needed for CT imaging often placing it beyond the reach of smaller clinics, first-opinion practices and mobile veterinary services.
Adaptix say this is where compact 3D imaging systems, such as the Adaptix VetSA3D, can help, providing an imaging option when conventional 2D radiography does not provide enough anatomical detail but CT is impractical or unavailable.
The Adaptix system uses digital tomosynthesis to acquire a series of x-ray images from multiple angles, reconstructing them into a stack of image slices. By reducing the anatomical superimposition often encountered in 2D radiography, the technology offers additional detail when assessing complex or closely overlapping structures often found in dentistry, orthopaedics and exotic animal medicine. It can be installed within existing x-ray environments, helping veterinary teams introduce 3D imaging without major building works or a dedicated CT suite, and radiation exposure can also be comparable with conventional radiographic examinations.
In the UK, Adaptix is working with Clark Dental Veterinary to support practices with planning, installation and integration into existing imaging workflows. The aim is to make advanced imaging more achievable for a broader range of veterinary settings where referral-based imaging may not always be practical.
Recent recipients include The Small Pet Vet, which has installed the system in a mobile veterinary practice, and Andy the vet & friends, which is using the technology to support diagnostic imaging across dental and orthopaedic cases.
