Component upgrades deliver total body imaging

Spire Wellesley Hospital in Southend-on-Sea has upgraded a Toshiba Vantage XGV 1.5T MRI system. Acquired in 2010 to replace a mobile unit, the system’s short bore magnet remains while all other components have been replaced to a higher specification, resulting in a wide bore opening and total body imaging.
Diagnostic imaging manager David Fowler said: “The range of coils available suited our requirements. In particular the 16-channel flexible coil system allows for high quality imaging in many situations. We have the ability to image peripheral vascular cases with a non-contrast technique to a high standard, as well as non-contrast TimeSlip imaging of the carotids using peripheral and ECG gating techniques.”
