Crime writer marks the dawn of a wide bore era

Cutting the cake at the opening of BMI The Somerfield Hospital’s MRI scanner is author Martina Cole with BMI The Somerfield Hospital executive director Connie Booth and Alliance Medical business development director David Loasby.
Patients attending BMI The Somerfield Hospital in Maidstone for an MRI scan should now find the experience less daunting with the hospital’s new GE Optima MR 450w, 1.5T wide bore scanner. Imaging manager Cheryl Beames said: “I think it is safe to say we are all excited to finally be able to launch the scanner and provide our patients with increased care.
“The MRI experience can be daunting and can feel enclosed, but with the wider and shorter new scanner, it is a more pleasant patient experience and will help reduce patient anxiety, feelings of claustrophobia and discomfort.”
Crime writer Martina Cole helped launch the scanner.
