Broomfield Hospital, part of Mid Essex Hospitals Services NHS Trust, has purchased a new Toshiba Aquilion/CX 128-slice CT system, replacing a Toshiba Aquilion Multi 4-slice scanner.
With a re-sited Toshiba Aquilion Super16 scanner, the system will be providing CT services. Its purchase was part of a £148m PFI project, which concentrates the majority of services at the Broomfield site in Chelmsford. The Aquilion/CX is located in the new purpose-built emergency imaging department.
CT lead radiographer and PACS manager Stuart Craig said: “We already have experience of Toshiba scanners and were very happy with the service provided. We decided to go for a Toshiba scanner again, so the learning curve for our staff was easier. The new system is faster and very user friendly.”
