Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust enhances imaging and patient experience with Philips technology
Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust has strengthened its radiology services with the installation of a second Philips Radiography 7300 C and Ambient Experience system in the A&E department, alongside a new Philips 7000 M mobile unit. Together, these are designed to improve efficiency, support faster patient throughput and enhance the experience for patients and staff.
The 7300 C digital radiography solution features auto‑tracking and motorised positioning, automatically aligning the x‑ray tube and detector to streamline workflows. This helps reduce examination times, ease pressure on busy departments and support rising demand. The 7000 M premium mobile radiography unit adds further flexibility, enabling quality imaging across a range of clinical settings.
Ease of use was a key factor in the trust’s decision as head of radiology Bradley Smith explained: “With a large number of Philips digital x‑ray units already in use, staff found it easy to get up and running with the familiar interface. The Ambient Experience feature is a nice touch, providing a positive experience while imaging is undertaken.”
Philips Ambient Experience supports patient wellbeing by combining dynamic lighting, sound and video to create a calmer, less clinical environment. General x‑ray superintendent Shaun Wilkin commented: “We chose the Philips Ambient Experience to provide a calming environment. This helps reduce patient anxiety, especially in paediatric, nervous or neurodiverse patients.”
