Dedicated RT CT for Glan Clwyd

At the rear are radiotherapy services manager Nest Bowl, senior radiographer Brian Hewitt, head of radiotherapy physics Dr Jaap Vaarkamp, Philips CT/oncology applications specialist Colin Murray and key account manager Jane Robinson. In front are pre-treatment superintendent Karen Thomas, consultant clinical oncologist Dr Rehka Neupane and senior radiographer Rebecca Crawford.
The North Wales Cancer Centre, part of Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Hospital, purchased a Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT system that is compatible with other systems in the department.
The centre has transferred all its radiotherapy virtual simulation to the new scanner so there is now all day access to the dedicated system.
The Big Bore enhances the detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. With an 85cm bore and true 60cm scan field-of-view it leads the way to 4D visualisation and enables the scanning of patients with immobilisation devices, patient monitoring, intravenous delivery devices, respiratory devices and other apparatus.
