Derby charity funding improves patient comfort

Senior experienced rotational radiotherapist David Pilborough, specialist healthcare science practitioner Iqbal Soor, healthcare science practitioner Rebecca Hughes and trainee medical physicist Graham Cornish.
Derby Hospitals Charity has funded the acquisition of immobilisation systems for radiotherapy at Royal Derby Hospital. Supplied by Vertec Scientific, the order comprises six Klarity Optek overlay CT compatible boards for S frame thermoplastic mask immobilisation offering stability for head and neck treatments.
Charity organiser Kerry Brady said: “We are here to help make patients’ lives better and public donations and legacies enable us to help provide the extras that cannot be provided from NHS statutory funding but that make a huge difference to our patients and staff. We were very pleased to be able to fund these latest systems as they make a difference to patients in radiotherapy treatment at the Royal Derby Hospital.”
