Digital autopsies to be rolled out across UK

Siemens Healthcare regional sales manager Sarah Sandhu, digital autopsy services manager Claire Walker, iGene London Limited CT radiographer Ruth Bisbrown-Chippendale, Siemens CT business manager Russell Lodge, regional sales manager John Brady and project manager Hefin Thomas.

Life science company iGene is investing £50m in creating a network of digital autopsy centres across England and Wales and is expanding its service with six Somatom Definition AS CT systems from Siemens Healthcare.  The first has been installed in its Sandwell facility in the West Midlands.  The additional systems will be placed in various sites throughout the UK.

“Post-mortem imaging is quite different to ante-mortem imaging and it requires the reverse of a lot of traditional scanning practices.  Siemens understood what we were trying to achieve and tailored its service to our unique requirements,” said iGene digital autopsy services manager Claire Walker.
