Explore MRI safety at Dr Kanal’s 4th European MRMD/MRSO Training Course, from June 3rd to June 5th, 2024, hosted at the Millennium Conference Centre in the heart of South Kensington, London.

With over 20 hours of detailed lectures, attendees will be taken on a comprehensive journey that delves into crucial aspects of MRI safety, covering static magnetic fields, RF magnetic fields, time-varying gradient safety considerations, cryogen safety considerations, and clinical application and decision-making.

The organiser of the event, Barbara Nugent, said: “At the heart of this MRMD/MRSO Training Course is a commitment to equipping MRI professionals with practical insights and a robust understanding of MRI safety. A new feature is the exclusive post-course Zoom sessions, led by Dr Kanal, which offer a priceless opportunity to solidify learning. Participants can ask questions, clarify any doubts, and deepen their understanding after the course. Course participants will also be able to discuss safety innovations with industry at the vendors’ exhibition and I’d like to especially thank all our sponsors. Their generous support plays a pivotal role in supporting MRI safety education.”

Dr Kanal explained: “In my experience, addressing MRI safety challenges requires a tailored approach. The course instils confidence in handling MR safety questions. Attendees will benefit by gaining in-depth knowledge, fostering the ability to safely execute MR studies.”

When describing how he would sum up the course, he said: “It’s not a word, but rather a phrase that a prior attendee used to summarise the experience: ‘It’s like drinking from a fire hose.’ There is so much information conveyed in just a few days – but at the end you truly feel like you not only understand but master the main concepts that you had set out to learn. By the end of the course, you are truly prepared to serve as the mentor to others regarding the myriad MR safety issues we will cover throughout this thought provoking course.”

For those committed to continuing professional development (CPD), the course offers a named certificate of attendance, with the documented learning outcomes endorsed by the College of Radiographers. This certificate recognises the dedication to learning and allows attendees to count a minimum of twenty hours of teaching toward their CPD requirements.

Attendees will also receive the innovative MRI Notebook, an exclusive resource developed by Barbara Nugent and extensively peer reviewed by MRI scan operators. Tailored for MRI professionals, it’s packed with in-depth insights, workplace templates, and MRI resources, serving as a personal workplace organiser.

The cost if funded is £750 plus VAT and if self-funding it is £650 plus VAT. Refreshments and a hot buffet lunch each day are included in the price.

Testimonials from previous attendees echo the value of this course:

  • “I will have more confidence in decision-making and questioning scenarios where safety may need to be considered.”
  • “Dr Kanal is an amazingly engaging speaker and very easy to listen to!”
