AXREM has begun the year with the appointment of new chair Jeevan Gunaratnam, who is strategic accounts and independent sector leader at Philips. He takes over from Ila Dobson, who continues to provide support as vice chair of the association of healthcare technology providers for imaging, radiotherapy and care.
Gunaratnam’s role at Philips involves working with leadership teams across the public and independent sectors, professional bodies and government, providing strategic and commercial support to meet current and future healthcare objectives.
Prior to this, he worked in the United States, Germany and Japan, and served as honorary treasurer at The British Institute of Radiology. He has helped establish diagnostic and treatment centres across the UK. “AXREM is, without doubt, the leading trade association in healthcare technology,” he said. “Our members, many of which are household names, support healthcare providers in the delivery of care to millions of patients each year, through the latest technology in diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT and care equipment.
“I’m incredibly proud of the unique insight AXREM members provide to our partners in this post-pandemic period of rebuilding and recovery. Our work on sustainability, cybersecurity and credentialling is just part of the valuable output from our spectrum of specialist focus groups.”
Dobson is director strategic accounts, NHS Supply Chain, procurement, government relations at GE HealthCare. She led AXREM through a time of change and development and has seen unprecedented membership growth. During her term the organisation aligned with other industry groups and key government organisations. It also published its first manifesto at UKIO 2022. The AXREM Member Accreditation Scheme was launched last April, while AI and sustainability special focus groups were both established. She said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as chair and look forward to continue working closely with Sally Edgington who is a great director and ambassador for AXREM, Jeevan Gunaratnam the new chair and our dedicated membership.”
