ECR 2009 defies the crisis

On the Bracco stand at the recent European Congress of Radiology, Bracco’s Ian Wren discusses the Empower CTA injector system with Lynne Abraham and Irene Furmedge, both from the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

Participation in ECR 2009 held in Vienna at the beginning this month was at an all-time high, with 18,200 delegates from 97 countries attending the meeting. Almost 400 delegates travelled to the Austrian capital, the home of ECR since 1991, from the UK and Ireland.

The accompanying technical exhibition also beat last year’s record, with 285 exhibitors presenting their products and services.

The figures led to a statement from the organisers that “even in the face of the current economic difficulties, first-class quality still ensures success”.

Some 274 scientific presentations and 25 industry-supported satellite symposia and hands-on workshops bore witness to the most recent developments in science and research.
