Edenbridge now ends film processing

Hospital matron Sue Hayward joins radiographer Debbie Galley, GE account manager Finn Crotty, radiography team leader from Sevenoaks Hospital Carolyn Burgum, GE product specialist Andy Neenan and senior medical physicist at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Katy Fleckney.

As well as a refurbished x-ray department, Edenbridge War Memorial Hospital in Kent now has re-designed podiatry and audiology departments.  The x-ray department chose the GE Healthcare Proteus x-ray system with features to enhance ease of use, patient comfort and increased throughput.

Previously, the department had been using a 27-year old system and film processing. Staff now have a computed radiography system and all necessary IT links to enable the transmission of images to other sites.

The physicist for the site, Katy Fleckney, said: “The new system will aid dose reduction as it utilises automatic exposure control on both table and wall Buckys.”

GE Healthcare has an installed base of over 200 Proteus systems within the UK.
