Elasticity imaging aids musculoskeletal research

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Birmingham has installed an Acuson S2000 ultrasound system from Siemens Healthcare.

 

Using eSie Touch, the hospital is undertaking elasticity imaging for the first time to conduct research on various soft tissue sarcomas.

 

eSie Touch elasticity imaging evaluates relative tissue stiffness through a gentle compression cycle. Real-time dual imaging displays this mechanical tissue information alongside conventional sonographic images for quick comparison. The application features a quality factor to indicate the quality of the elastogram acquired.
