HVL Reactor 22 demo day

Health Venture Lab’s (HVL) Reactor Accelerator, supported by GE Healthcare, has graduated its fifth cohort of start-ups. In June, the 2022 class shared details of their growth and partnerships at the annual Demo Day, held at GE Healthcare’s headquarters in Hungary. Among dozens of applicants across Europe, HVL selected the most promising medical technology projects and presented their progress to guests.

The Demo Day looked at how the Reactor 2022 cohort teams have increased their performance and proved to have unique products with potential to attract business customers. As a result, the HVL team and GE Healthcare executives highlighted three teams, of which one was named the most promising.

AI Minded in Romania accelerates cancer treatment using AI in radiotherapy hospitals, reducing analysis time by more than 95 per cent. Acorai in Sweden produces a medical device for non-invasive monitoring of intracardiac pressure. The aim is to reduce rehospitalisations and mortality rates due to heart failure.

The winner was AIGEA Medical in Italy, which focuses on AI application in radiology workflows and digital imaging with DeepMammo for the early detection of breast cancer.

“Innovation is key for the dynamic growth of healthcare companies that flourish best with cooperation and partnerships in academia, industry and entrepreneurial sectors,” said GE Healthcare general manager Eastern Europe Kostas Deligiannis.

“GE Healthcare is proudly supporting initiatives like Health Venture Lab that bring together brilliant ideas, the right partners and disruptive innovators accelerating the advancement of European healthcare.”

After graduating from the Reactor, founders got to know their business on a deeper level as they consulted with experts, advisors and investors who looked at the
project from their own point of view, bringing years of experience to the table. Start-ups had the chance to introduce guests to their products, participate at 1:1 meetings with potential partners and investors as well as showcase their public speaking.
