ECR 2025

The European Congress of Radiology 2025 took place in Vienna at the end of last month. The theme was Planet Radiology, exploring the intersection of radiology, sustainability and global healthcare equity. Congress president Professor Andrea Rockall was the first ESR president to come from the UK since 2008. She said: “The energy, passion, and innovation I witnessed at ECR 2025 was nothing short of inspiring and I hope attendees have taken some of the important messages of the meeting home with them, using the blueprint we have provided to make medical imaging more sustainable and equitable.”

The In Focus programme, Imagers Fixing the World, showcased projects that advanced global health equity and planetary sustainability. From AI-driven diagnostics in underserved regions to pioneering green radiology initiatives, these sessions highlighted the transformative power of radiology in shaping a better world. In addition, the In Focus lounge featured a poster installation where attendees could earn more about projects and stories that are benefitting the planet and underserved communities. Next year’s congress will be held in Vienna on March 4-8.
