UKIO 2025

The theme for UKIO this year was Community and Consciousness: One Health. As well as representation from across the UK imaging and oncology communities, international delegates from more than 30 countries were in attendance, including recipients of the Radiology and Oncology Congresses Board bursary scheme. This is the second year that the congress has been awarded Patients Included status and the programme featured speakers with lived experience and delegates representing the patient’s voice.

The plenary programme centred around the theme of sustainability. On Monday, author and professor in practice at Lancaster Environment Centre, Lancaster University, Professor Mike Berners-Lee presented on ‘Oncology and imaging in the Anthropocene – how we can all help humanity to thrive’. On Tuesday the panel session was titled ‘The green prescription – strategies for a sustainable future,’ while on Wednesday NHS England chief allied health professions officer Professor Suzanne Rastrick spoke on ‘Healthy communities, sustainable practices – towards a greener future.’
