First national senior thrombectomy nurse meeting takes place

News

Delegates came from neuroscience centres across the country.

The first national senior thrombectomy nurse meeting was held in Birmingham in March, supported by Medtronic.

Invites were sent to all neuroscience centres in England, to encourage senior nurses from both interventional neuroradiology and stroke teams that deliver this treatment to attend.

The first meeting was heralded a success, with 38 delegates from 16 neuroscience centres from across the country bringing a great deal of experience and insight in the challenges that need to be considered to roll out services.

Chaired by Gill Cluckie from St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Ismalia De Sousa from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Alastair Bailey from Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the day concluded with actions for the group to work together and share best practice.  A second meeting will take place later in the year.
