Fourth ultrasound room boosts patient numbers

North Devon District Hospital’s new ultrasound department has opened a fourth room with the addition of a Philips iU22 scanner.  Staff are now able to scan approximately 100 more patients a week.

Superintendent sonographer Lesley Snell said: “Everyone using the iU22 has been impressed with the quality of the imaging and has found it easy to use.

“We particularly like the ergonomics such as the ability to slide and rotate the controls closer to the patient and the lightweight cables on the transducers.  We have also been impressed with the excellent vascular sensitivity and have found it very good for high BMI patients with the use of the penetration presets”
