Freeman Hospital chooses second phantom for IMRT

Clinical scientist Karen Hawthorn, radiotherapy engineer Neil Satterley, clinical scientists Phil Ayre and Grace Keane, therapeutic radiographer Kate Forbes with Mike Holroyd of OIS.
Following the installation of a Delta4 Phantom+ by Oncology Imaging Systems, the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne has chosen to purchase a second system. Completely wireless with integrated wi-fi and battery operation, it offers accurate and efficient verification of IMRT, VMAT and TomoTherapy plans.
Clinical scientist Karen Hawthorn said: “With more patients than ever benefitting from IMRT treatments here at Newcastle, we needed another patient QA device to verify our treatment deliveries. After carefully considering all the commercially-available devices, we chose Delta4 Plus. We already have an older model that has been a work-horse here for many years, so we knew it was reliable, and it has been the device of choice for patient QA across the local Cancer Network. As a clinical scientist I value the straightforward, meaningful data that Delta4 provides. The new wireless functionality makes it so quick and easy to use, it has been described by one member of staff as an absolute dream.”
