Galway’s personalised environments reduce repeat scans

The Galway Clinic, Ireland, has invested in a Philips Ingenia 1.5T MRI with full Ambient Experience and in-bore solution that provides a visual experience to each patient lying in the bore. “Their focus is almost entirely filled up with what is on the screen,” explained radiology services manager Evelyn Smyth.  “We have observed a positive impact through enabling patients to be active participants in their imaging by designing their own scan experience.  Reducing patient motion with the in-bore solution leads to a reduction in repeat scans, waiting times and rescheduling, while significantly increasing throughput.”

Consultant radiologist Dr Brian Lucey added: “There are many significant advantages to using the Ingenia 1.5T MR.  It is digital and has a boost in signal and throughput, ensuring fast exams with the highest image quality.  It has fewer coils, less coil changes, and decreased table time.  Because the dStream technology is channel independent, there is no need to upgrade to the next channel upgrade to buy a new set of coils.  If Philips comes out with a new coil, then it will work on our Ingenia 1.5T MR.”
