GE HealthCare and Nuffield Health launch diagnostic imaging hub in Oxford
Nuffield Health and GE HealthCare have launched a major new diagnostic hub at Nuffield Health The Manor Hospital in Oxford. Equipped with the latest generation of technology from GE HealthCare, the hub features the latest AI-enabled imaging systems. With the hospital offering services to NHS and private patients, people from across the region will benefit from earlier detection of diseases including cancer, faster progression to the right treatment and improved clinical outcomes.
As part of this, the hospital is enhancing its cardiac service, with access to cutting-edge CT and MRI systems. This will help diagnose and treat more complex heart conditions, with cardiologists delivering pacemakers, ICDs and heart failure devices.
Consultant cardiologist Mr Kim Rajappan said: “The Manor Hospital works closely with the NHS and health insurers to deliver care to patients across the region, and this added diagnostic capacity will help improve access, reduce delays and deliver the best possible care for our community.”
This development marks the first anniversary of a 20-year, £200m collaboration to deliver diagnostic and imaging equipment across Nuffield Health’s UK-wide hospital network.
Nuffield Health CEO Alex Perry said: “The arrival of the latest AI-powered imaging systems will allow our clinicians to work with even greater precision and give patients vital answers about their health sooner, and with more confidence.”
In its first year Nuffield Health’s 35 hospitals have received 144 advanced imaging systems, including a major upgrade to women’s health services at Nuffield Health’s Chester, Vale, Cheltenham and Wessex hospitals, with the installation of GE HealthCare’s Pristina mammography system.
