Guy’s Hospital, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, has acquired a Senographe Pristina 3D mammography system that allows the patient to partly control the compression of the breast during screening. The radiographer first sets the minimum compression needed and the patient can then choose to increase the compression using a remote control.
Advanced practitioner Julie Scudder said: “The GE Healthcare Pristina system has enhanced our patients’ experience of mammography. Its superior ergonomics have improved ease of positioning for both the mammographers and patients. The whole procedure is quicker than before and the introduction of the Sensory Suite to compliment the Pristina has created a less clinical appearing environment, helping to reduce potential patient anxiety.”
