Hand-carried system is helpful

News

Judith Phillips uses a MicroMaxx ultrasound system.

Judith Phillips, an advanced practitioner in ultrasound based in Worcestershire, is using an M-Turbo and previously the MicroMaxx hand-carried ultrasound systems from SonoSite to provide GPs with direct access to ultrasound within primary care, to help them to manage patients better and direct referrals more accurately to secondary care services.

Said Judith: “We started in two general practices and the response has been extremely positive. Carrying out preliminary screening of, for example, the hepatobiliary or genito-urinary systems, helps ensure that patients referred to the acute trust are directed to the appropriate speciality and that those who don’t need to go, don’t go unnecessarily. Both systems are very easy to use, lightweight to move easily between sites and with transducers that are quick and easy to change.”
