‘Handsome’ solution is launched at BCS conference

Philips international sales specialist IGT systems Maria Mauti, Philips UKI modality sales specialist IGT Simon Wilsdon, Dr Mehdi Meskandari from King’s College Hospital, Professor Julian Gunn from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Philips IGT marketing manager Charlotte Schrieken.

Philips UKI showcased its cardiology portfolio at the British Cardiovascular Society annual conference in Manchester.  A key feature of the presentation was the Azurion next generation image-guided therapy solution, which was demonstrated using a simulator, enabling customers to complete all the configurations they would normally carry out in the control room.

Azurion combines advances in vascular surgery, interventional cardiology, oncology and neuroradiology.  It uses a range of ProcedureCards to help optimise and standardise system set-up for all cases, from routine to advanced, helping to safeguard consistency and minimise preparation errors.

Professor Julian Gunn from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals shared his experiences with Azurion: “The Philips equipment is not cluttered, it is very handsome, easily cleaned, mobile and convenient.  The one thing you will notice is the huge screen; to me as the main user that is a huge revelation.  When we look at the FlexVision XL screen you can now see all the imaging, physiology and other data and the image clarity allows me to assess lesions in great detail; I can plan the PCI and execute it probably better than I ever used to.  It also incredible how much lower the dose is using the new system.”
