Kidderminster Hospital installs advanced MRI

At Kidderminster Hospital and Treatment Centre are student radiographer Beyene Zerisenay, senior radiographer Mary-Anne Rees, senior radiographer Matt Riley, director of radiology Dr Umesh Udeshi, senior radiographer Dani Shutt, and Siemens Healthcare regional sales manager Darren Parker.

Kidderminster Hospital and Treatment Centre, part of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, has installed a Magnetom Skyra 3 Tesla MRI system from Siemens Healthcare. Located in the radiology department, it has been acquired to assist with increasing imaging needs and to handle a multi-specialty workload.

“We selected the Magnetom Skyra after extensively comparing different systems available on the market,” said director of radiology Dr Umesh Udeshi. “We’re familiar with Siemens’ systems so it was an obvious choice to ensure quick uptake on training by our radiographers. The installation process was smooth and ran to schedule and we are benefitting from improved image definition and increased departmental throughput.

“Patients have noticed the faster scanning times, staff find the system easy to use and the image quality we receive is exceptional.”
