Head of the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic Dr David Byfield and subject leader for health and exercise science Dr Simon Williams with Vertec product specialist Bill Reid.

The University of South Wales has received a Hologic Horizon A DXA system, the first to be ordered in the UK, from Vertec Scientific. As a leader in the study of sports and exercise science, the university’s faculty of life sciences and education invested in the dual energy x-ray absorptiometry scanner to support the education and work of its students and researchers and to enhance the provision of planned clinical services.

Subject leader for health and exercise science Dr Simon Williams said: “We are delighted to be the first in the UK to acquire the Horizon A as it provides great opportunities for us in terms of research and clinical evaluation and is a significant addition to the excellent measurement capability that already exists in our department. Our plans include opening access to our DXA service to other healthcare providers in the area.”
