BCRAG founder Margaret Stead, Hologic’s Julie Rowell and Ambrose Murray, BCRAG chair Anne Leng, director of breast screening programme for Leeds and Wakefield Dr Nisha Sharma and radiography services manager Deborah Clayton.

The Breast Cancer Research Action Group (BCRAG) based in Leeds has donated funds to the Leeds Breast Screening Unit at Seacroft Hospital, to enable the purchase of a state-of-the-art 3D mammography system.

“Clients will benefit from one of the best techniques available in breast cancer care,” said director of breast screening and clinical lead for breast imaging in Leeds and Wakefield Dr Nisha Sharma.  “The advanced technology of the Hologic 3D Mammography system will be used on women whose initial mammograms suggest possible cancer.  It may help determine whether they have the disease earlier and the new equipment will also be particularly important for women with moderate to dense breasts where lesions are sometimes obscured.”
