The League of Friends for Lewes and Crowborough Hospitals have funded the purchase of two Toshiba Aplio 500 ultrasound systems, one for use in Lewes Victoria Hospital, and the other for Crowborough War Memorial Hospital.

Both are community hospitals and part of East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.  The new scanners will be used for general radiology and, at Lewes hospital with the aid of dedicated probes, will perform MSK examinations as well as 3D/4D gynaecology scans.

Superintendent radiographer Jane Mackenzie-Bennett said: “The Aplio was chosen for its versatility and image quality.  Our previous experience with the service provided by Toshiba was important in influencing our decision.”
