M-Turbo helps consultants at outreach clinics

The Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) in Reading uses SonoSite’s M-Turbo hand-carried ultrasound system to provide services to patients attending its satellite rheumatology clinics.
Consultant rheumatologist Dr Antoni Chan said: “We aim to detect suspected rheumatoid or other forms of inflammatory arthritis as early as possible, since rapid initiation of treatment reduces long term damage and disability. Ultrasound plays a key role in this, as it is more sensitive to the initial signs of arthritis than x-ray imaging.”
