Esaote MyLab X8

Manchester Metropolitan University’s department of sports and exercise sciences at the Institute of Sport has added an Esaote MyLab X8. This installation continues a long-standing collaboration and the university now operates six Esaote ultrasound platforms across its teaching and research programmes, comprised of MyLab Twice, MyLab Seven, MyLab Gamma, MyLab Touch systems as well as the flagship MyLab X8.

“This is beautiful imaging,” remarked one academic user during the installation. It is also considered very intuitive to use. “Really informative installation – you really know your studio,” they continued.

The MyLab X8 is equipped with Esaote’s ClearWave architecture and others image clarity, workflow efficiency and AI-assisted diagnostics. Its intuitive user interface and advanced features will support researchers and students, particularly those on Clinical MSc degree pathways, in studying the positive impacts of physical activity and exercise across a range of musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and disorders.

Senior academics emphasised the role of ultrasound in advancing exercise-based clinical practice, with one commenting: “Our partnership with Esaote has helped us create a unique applied environment where students and researchers can explore real-world clinical questions. These systems directly influence our understanding of exercise interventions and physical activity guidelines.”

This expanded ultrasound capability is expected to enhance the university’s work in fields such as clinical and applied MSK assessments; cardiovascular adaptations to exercise; metabolic health in sedentary and athletic populations; and development of evidence-based physical activity guidelines.
