Margate hospital installs second Ambition X 1.5T scanner
A second Philips Ambition X 1.5T MRI scanner has been installed at Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital (QEQM), Margate, part of East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust. Both scanners have been upgraded with SmartSpeed technology, promising faster, smarter imaging.
Kent and Canterbury Hospital principal MRI radiographer and lead radiographer Raghurajan Maraparambil said: “QEQM has commissioned our second Philips Ambition X 1.5T MRI scanner with advanced acceleration technology, to help reduce the inpatient waiting time and provide additional outpatient scanning capacity to the local population.
“Previously, patients requiring advanced MRI investigations had to travel across the East Kent region due to limited access to MRI at the QEQM site. With the twin scanner configuration, the radiology department is now able to offer access to all advanced and complex examinations to the local population.”
