Medica continues to keep pace with developments in radiology AI as it forms partnership and contributes to studies

Medica has been keeping pace with developments in radiology AI for several years. At the end of 2019, the company identified providers who had real-world data to evidence their product’s impact. In March 2020, Medica announced a strategic partnership with Qure.ai to deploy AI for service improvement and to support the reporting process.
The partnership utilises a distinct algorithm, qER, a decision support tool to analyse non-contrast studies, flagging up possible abnormalities and allowing prioritisation based on clinical priority rather than chronological allocation. The tool also highlights potential critical findings to reporters, which can be integrated into their diagnosis, transforming a radiologist’s experience of CT brain analysis and improving the accuracy of acute stroke diagnosis.
In addition, Medica entered into a collaborative study with Qure.ai, published in the British Journal of Radiology. The study highlights the effectiveness of AI in detecting intracranial haemorrhage in non-contrast CT head scans, with an accuracy rate of 93.5 per cent.
“The BIR AI event is the perfect opportunity to meet the Medica team and discover how AI-powered tools are revolutionising reporting, providing immediate benefits without disrupting workflows,” the company says. At the event, delegates can find out how Medica will be testing and adopting AI solutions at scale in 2025, demonstrating its commitment to excellence in diagnostics and research.
