Gill Collinson becomes IPEM chief executive

The Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) has appointed Gill Collinson as its new chief executive officer. She joins IPEM from STEM Learning, where she is director of strategy and partnerships.
She takes up her new post in March. Upon her appointment, Collinson said: “I am delighted to be joining IPEM at this exciting time for the organisation and the professions it represents.
“With the Government developing new plans for the NHS, as well as taking action in key areas for medical physics and clinical engineering such as AI, there has never been a better time to be a member of IPEM. I’m really excited to work with our members, volunteers and expert and dedicated staff to ensure that IPEM is the leading voice in improving health through physics and engineering, enabling a diverse and inclusive professional community to deliver innovative practice development for the public good.”
A chartered engineer by background, Collinson began her career in the energy, engineering and manufacturing sectors, working with companies including Philips, Rolls-Royce and Siemens Healthineers. Since joining STEM Learning in 2014 ,she has played a key role in expanding the organisation’s reach, helping it grow into the UK’s largest provider of STEM education. She has led impactful initiatives to inspire young people, support educators and engage
businesses in building a skilled and diverse STEM workforce.
