Leicester City midfielder Matty James was the special guest at a ceremony to unveil an MRI scanning facility at Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital.  He cut the ribbon on the new GE450W Optima MRI scanner with GEM coil technology, part of a £1.1 million refurbishment project being undertaken by the hospital in partnership with Alliance Medical.

The equipment was chosen for its design which helps improve patient comfort, reduce claustrophobia and accommodate a variety of body shapes, sizes and clinical conditions. It also has the ability to undertake complex imaging of organs and tissues with increased resolutions.

Hospital director Matthew Cook said: “The scanner is a great asset to the hospital and will enhance the diagnostic capabilities that we provide to our patients. Having access to high quality images will help us support clinical decision-making while providing a more comfortable experience for patients.”
