Nightingale hospital shielding needs are quickly met
Raybloc X-ray Protection was approached by Interserve Construction to supply and install lead shielding products at NHS Nightingale Hospital Birmingham in an urgent response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The project had to be completed within three days, giving the Raybloc team two days to manufacture and one day to install the equipment.
Having discussed the urgency of the situation all involved were committed to ensuring Interserve’s tight development schedule was achieved. A specification was finalised with the teams at Raybloc, Interserve and BDP Architects, in conjunction with the RPA’s requirements.
Raybloc manufactured and installed an x-ray protective door set and lead-lined plywood to ensure radiation was contained within the x-ray facility. A fixed operator’s screen has also been fitted in the x-ray room.
