Nottingham EP lab hits ‘rock-bottom’ dose

Nottingham City Hospital consultant EP cardiologists Dr Tim Robinson, Dr Andrew Staniforth and Dr Arif Ahsan.

Electrophysiology staff at Nottingham City Hospital report that an upgraded Philips interventional x-ray system has allowed them to dramatically reduce dose without loss of image quality.

A Philips Allura Xper system has been transformed into an AlluraClarity system and consultant EP cardiologist Dr Tim Robinson has been discovering the benefits of Clarity IQ technology: “The dose reduction is much greater than I would have expected.  We have compared data from patients treated when the lab was first built with data since the transformation and the dose is around 70 per cent less.”
