Nuffield Health expands imaging capabilities with five MRI systems

Nuffield Heath Cheltenham Hospital lead MRI radiographer Helen Rawcliffe, radiology manager Karen Jervis, Siemens Healthcare regional sales and corporate account manager Vince Golledge, group radiology manager Paul Court, Siemens regional sales manager Darren Parker and senior MRI radiographer Sarah Murray.
Healthcare provider Nuffield Health has invested in one CT and five MRI systems from Siemens Healthcare to provide its patients with a more comfortable imaging experience and an expanded service. Replacing mobile services, the Magnetom Aera 1.5T systems and a Somatom Definition Edge have an open bore design and are paving the way for the addition of a walk-in service and an MR breast screening service in the future.
Installations are occurring in Exeter, Cambridge, Cheltenham, Leeds and York. Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital has experienced an increase in outpatient referrals and can now accommodate bariatric patients. Its Magnetom Aera is located in a dedicated suite in radiology. Lead MRI radiographer Helen Rawcliffe said: “It is important that we provide our patients with the very best experience and technology available. The Magnetom Aera’s open bore has decreased the number of patients experiencing claustrophobia and the features such as Tim 4G integrated coil technology provide excellent image quality. The imaging department has experienced an increase in all modality referrals, including dynamic liver imaging and MR angiography.”
