Nuffield Health Newcastle mammography

Nuffield Health Newcastle upon Tyne Hospital has added to its range of Fujifilm radiology equipment with an Amulet Innovality mammography system. Radiology manager Amanda Cumersdale explained that the Amulet Innovality is the mammography system of choice for Nuffield Health and said: “When we reviewed the specifications and saw the system for ourselves we were in full agreement. We were looking for a system that offered good diagnostic quality, better imaging for cores and specimens, and the capability for tomosynthesis as this is something we hope to offer in the future.

“We have found the Amulet Innovality to be user friendly and the staff became confident with it very quickly. The paddle exchange is easy and the image quality is good. The radiologists are very pleased with the images, and the intelligent automatic exposure control has proven invaluable for implant imaging. We have also found that glandular dose is reduced.”

Cumersdale said that patients have commented on the more comfortable experience: “The Fit Sweet compression paddle with flexibility at the chest wall has been positively commented on by our regular patients, and the detector shape also lends itself to a better examination as there is less stretch on the axilla.”

Respondents in the NHS Breast Screening Programme evaluation rated the Fit Sweet compression paddle as excellent (75 per cent) or good (25 per cent), and 56 per cent of patients reported a reduction in pain when the Comfort Comp feature was used.
