Oxipit tools bring workflow-centric AI into the radiology department

Oxipit began its AI medical imaging journey with the ChestEye industry-leading2 CAD application, that is said to offer exceptional sensitivity to detect 75 thoracic findings. However, with only limited productivity gains Oxipit says it quickly understood that AI in itself, no matter how sensitive or accurate, is only a part of the equation. “AI is only as good as the workflows you put into use,” says ceo Peter Corscadden.

“Heads of radiology have a lot on their plate. Not only do they have to address staff shortages1 or the increasing demand for medical imaging, they are also faced with technology companies promising to revolutionise, game-change or disrupt. You can get lost in a moment thinking about the future, where AI automates workflow, provides impactful clinical support and, most importantly, benefit patients. The future is bright indeed. The problem is getting there.”

Oxipit offers two workflow-centric AI solutions. “ChestLink is the first CE-certified autonomous AI medical imaging application. The app autonomously reports on healthy patient chest x-rays, automating up to 40 per cent of total radiology workflow. Then CAD kicks-in, supporting radiologists with the remaining studies not deemed to be confidently normal,” explains Corscadden.

“ChestEye Quality uses AI as a second reader, double checking medical images for diagnostic mistakes and missed findings.

“Together, these tools can bring that brighter future of the radiology department a step closer.”
