PACSHealth founders celebrate two decades advancing imaging informatics

Twenty years ago, Dan Tuffelmire and Mike Battin founded PACSHealth LLC, with a vision of bringing data integrity and real-time analytics to medical imaging. They noticed that radiology systems were generating vast volumes of data, but lacked effective tools for audit, performance monitoring and visibility to management of a critical patient-centric diagnostic application.

Their first product, PACSHealth, enabled enterprise level monitoring of the PACS and associated systems to uncover potential patient care issues before they became clinically relevant. With an interactive dashboard-driven user interface, PACSHealth has created the foundation for a company that is said to have defined key areas of imaging informatics for over two decades across 13 countries and more than 1,600 hospitals.

The product portfolio includes: PACSHealth, providing enterprise data integrity and analytics for GE HealthCare Centricity and Optum PACS with real-time audit log management and performance management dashboards; DoseMonitor dose management system supporting all PACS and DICOM modalities and featuring real-time alerts, advanced physics analytics and regulatory compliance; VNAHealth enterprise data quality application that compares multiple DICOM databases for examination, patient and meta-data consistency; and DICOMeXtreme Router, an advanced DICOM/HL7 router offering ‘anything to anywhere’ routing with advanced routing and pre-fetching rules, built-in viewer, modality worklist, tag morphing and non-DICOM file wrapping.

“As AI and automation continue to reshape medical imaging, PACSHealth LLC remains committed to developing tools that enable smarter, safer and more efficient imaging management. The past 20 years have laid a strong foundation; the next 20 will build on it to meet the evolving demands of global healthcare,” the company says.
