Paediatric hip scanning

Participants at an ultrasound workshop focusing on the use of ultrasound to exclude developmental dysplasia of the hip benefited from hands-on training in small groups using Aloka ultrasound systems supplied by Olympus.

The course was organised by the medical physics team at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust in conjunction with the paediatric/orthopaedic teams.

Thirteen trainees took part in theoretical and practical sessions on national guidelines, risk management, ultrasound imaging and artefacts, and measurement methods.
