Point-of-care ultrasound assists learning in Glasgow

Using SonoSite point-of-care ultrasound.

Point-of-care ultrasound is providing valuable additional information in emergency medicine at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, according to EMED consultant Dr Jonny Gordon.  “We routinely assess trauma patients using FAST and, in the event of a major incident, ultrasound can also provide an indication of which patients should be most urgently prioritised for CT scans,” he said.

“It is also important for line placement and we have had a SonoSite system for this for over 10 years, which is virtually indestructible.”
