Portable CT helps get race horses back on their feet

At Newmarket Equine Hospital are nurses Naomi Walker and James Hill, Vertec product specialist Keith Lakin and specialist in equine surgery Matt Smith.

Newmarket Equine Hospital (NEH) has taken delivery of a Neurologica CereTom portable CT scanner supplied by Vertec Scientific that is claimed to be the first intraoperative equine CT scanner in Europe.

The CereTom will be used primarily to enhance the evaluation of fractures in horses and to guide implant placement.  It will also be particularly useful in diagnosing and treating complex injuries.
