President of Germany marks strengthened technological ties to the UK with visit to Siemens Healthineers

Siemens Healthineers Magnet Technology in Oxford hosted the Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and First Lady Elke Büdenbender as part of their official UK visit.

Held at the the company’s MRI superconducting magnet innovation and manufacturing facility, the occasion highlights the growing collaboration between the UK and Germany under the recently signed Kensington Treaty, which aims to strengthen ties in research, innovation and advanced technology.

The treaty marks a milestone in advancing partnerships across life sciences and medical technology. By deepening cooperation between the two nations, it is hoped to create new opportunities for breakthroughs and pave the way for transformative healthcare solutions that will benefit patients worldwide.

Siemens Healthineers Great Britain and Ireland MD Ghada Trotabas said: “It is an honour to welcome President Steinmeier and the First Lady to our Oxford facility. The partnership between the UK and Germany is a catalyst for progress in medical technology. With eight manufacturing sites operational or under construction across the UK and Ireland, we are proud to strengthen this partnership and contribute to an innovative medical technology ecosystem that delivers real impact for patients.”
