Senior radiographer Rob Henchliffe and superintendent radiographer Howard Thomas at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli.
Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli, part of the Hywel Dda Health Board, took delivery of the UK’s first Optima MR450w GEM (geometry embracing method) MRI scanner, from GE Healthcare, in late September.
MR superintendent Howard Thomas said: “With this system we’ve seen fantastic image quality. The scanner is patient-friendly, the coils are ergonomic and easy to use and in addition the software is easy for the operator to use. I feel that the GEM suite has greatly improved our productivity without any reduction in image quality.”
