Witham MP Priti Patel has been given a tour of the privately owned Oaks Hospital in Colchester, which is part of independent hospital operator group Ramsay Health Care. Patients from Witham attend Oaks Hospital for specialist private and NHS healthcare treatment and Patel was able to see the facilities including a Somatom go.Top CT scanner from Siemens Healthineers.
After her visit Patel said: “It was a most illuminating tour and it was particularly fascinating to see the way the hospital has adopted new technology to enhance the treatments it offers. The new CT scanner is particularly impressive.”
Oaks Hospital has a modern theatre complex of four operating theatres equipped for a wide range of surgery including routine and emergency procedures. Treatments include cancer services, breast screening, general surgery, ear, nose and throat, gynaecology, dermatology, orthopaedics and physiotherapy.
Ramsay Health Care UK ceo Dr Andy Jones and hospital director Amy Simpson conducted the tour. They were particularly keen to show off the new CT scanner, which enhances the hospital’s ability to meet urgent clinical care needs and is a response to advances in imaging technology that make the increasing use of radiological investigations by clinicians a more effective form of diagnosis.
Dr Jones commented: “It was great to have Priti here with us and we were pleased to be able to give her the full tour and brief her on exactly what we do at Oaks Hospital. Our recent investment in the CT scanner has been made to support our continued delivery of high quality patient care to the local community, including patients from the Witham constituency.”
