Probo provides Kent hospital with removal and installation for emergency x-ray room upgrade

When a hospital in Kent set out to create a new emergency x-ray room, the project required clearance as well as installation. An existing Instrumentarium OC200 dental system needed to be fully decommissioned before the room would be ready for the DEXIS OP 3D upgrade, and that task fell to Probo Medical UK engineer Matt Harris and the team.

The previous system had offered standard panoramic, paediatric, TMJ, maxillary sinus and bitewing exposures. However, with the department building a dedicated emergency imaging space with modern clinical demands, it was deemed time for something more capable.

Harris completed the deinstallation 18 months ago, carefully removing the unit to allow construction of the new room to proceed.

“That kind of sequencing matters in a busy hospital environment and was carefully managed by Probo’s project management team,” the company stated. “Getting equipment out cleanly and on schedule meant the building work could begin on time and the clinical team could plan their workflows around a firm timeline.”

The DEXIS OP 3D brings full multimodal capability, combining 2D panoramic, cephalometric and 3D cone beam CT imaging in a single platform. Harris has since returned to complete the mechanical installation, with electrical work the final step before the unit goes live.

The company continued: “It is a project that illustrates something Probo Medical UK sees time and again: a well managed deinstallation is just as important as the installation that follows it.”
